World leprosy day the theme was ” UNITED FOR DIGNITY”

             On January 31, 2022 2nd year BSc nursing and 3rd year GNM students have celebrated the World Leprosy Day at Singanpor health Centre and Parvatibai leprosy Hospital, Surat respectively at 9:30 AM to 12 PM and 1 PM to 3 PM. The programme coordinator was Ms. Sweta Patel, Ms. Krishna Goswami and Ms. Hetal Bavasiya.

            The program activity contains chart exhibition, role-play and theme unfolding. These include:

  • Charts: There were total 35 numbers of charts which represents leprosy, types of leprosy, stigma associated with leprosy, sign and symptoms, diagnostic test, treatment and theme of leprosy day. The chats were explained at both the centers. At Parvatibai Leprosy hospital, for leprosy patient the students have prepared special charts such as life with leprosy, how to cope up with leprosy and how covid 19 can affect leprosy for helping the leprosy patient in future life
  • Role Play: The Role play was done by 3rd year GNM students, total 14 number of students have participated, the moral of  the role play was to raise awareness of leprosy and call end to leprosy related stigma, discrimination and isolation. During the role play total 150 patient and their relative, medical officer and staff nurses were present at Singanpor health Centre..
  • Theme Unfolding: At Parvatibai Leprosy hospital theme unfolding was done by 2nd year Bsc nursing student Ms. Prachi Patel by power point presentation which includes the component of theme as well as all the information regarding leprosy. During this presentation nursing superintendent, medical officer, staff nurse, faculties and patients gave thier valuable presence and they appreciated and motivated the students for their work.
  • Due to current situation  of  COVID -19 students have prepared chats on omicron variant, sign & symptoms , treatment ,its precautions, and encouraged people for vaccination, follow the rule and regulation of COVID -19.

           At this event many community people given their valuable presence and made this awareness meaningful and  more successful.
