The overall objective of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. The theme for World Mental Health Day 2023 is ‘Mental health is a universal human right.’ This subject emphasises the necessity of assuring that everyone, regardless of age, socioeconomic class, or background should have access to high-quality mental health care and support on day 10th October, 2023 the students of 3rd year B.Sc. Nursing, 2nd year P. B. B.Sc. (N) and 2nd year G.N.M have celebrated World mental health Day at Singanpore Urban health centre. The function was Organized under the guidance of our respected Principal sir Mr.Jimmyjames Mogaria by Ms, Chitra Kantharia, Ms. Anjali Bhadkiwala and Ms. Shreya Joshi.

Welcoming and felicitation of: Dr. Jigar Mistry (Medical officer), Dr. Arpana Patel (Resident medical officer), staff nurses, administrative staff and other community health care team members. After that prayer was done by 2nd year G.N.M. student Ms. Nency Vadodaria. After carrying the program forward Drama was done by 12 students of 2nd year GNM on topic of “Myths regarding Mental illness and its solution of mental health problems”. In which they have covered topics. By 11:00 am Speech by Dr. Jigar Mistry on topic of Mental illness prevention. Topic covered by Dr. Jigar was introduction about Mental illness and its basic preventive criteria. Exhibition was done on Awareness of different mental illness by 50 posters by 3rd year B.Sc, nursing, 2nd year P. B. B.Sc. (N) and 2nd year G.N.M. students.

In this program total 400 people have participated. This was huge crowd and we have aware people with different activities to prevent the Mental illness with your own right. People have given very good response regarding the celebration and also staff members have appreciated a lot about all the activities.

Lastly, we have wind up the celebration by thanks giving ceremony.

EXPERT TALK ON MENTAL HEALTH DAY

World Mental Health Day 2023 is an opportunity for people and communities to unite behind the theme Mental health is a universal human right” to improve knowledge, raise awareness and drive actions that promote and protect everyone’s mental health as a universal human right. Good mental health is vital to our overall health and well-being. Yet one in eight people globally are living with mental health conditions, which can impact their physical health, their well-being, how they connect with others, and their livelihoods. Mental health conditions are also affecting an increasing number of adolescents and young people.

On the day of 10 October, 2023 T. & T. V. Institute of nursing. Surat have organized expert talk of Dr. Parag Shah (Professor and head of psychiatric department, SMIMER hospital) on the topic of “Mobile addiction leading to behavioural changes in youngsters”

Session was started with Introduction of world mental health day by Ms. Christina Christian. After that felicitation ceremony was done of Dr. Parag Shah, their resident doctors, our respected Principal Mr. Jimmy James Mogaria, and our H.O.D of psychiatric department Ms. Tanvi Bhatiya.

Dr. Parag Shah have started the Session with different aspects of mobile addiction in youngsters. Access to a smartphone can make life easier by making information accessible. Still, the convenience comes at a price. The devices are carefully designed to be hard to put down. Through its colours, sounds, and vibrations, the technology is purposefully keeps its user engaged According to former Google design ethicist Tristan Harris, features like “pull to refresh” were inspired by slot machines and other casino games. Designers and engineers meticulously develop every aspect of the device to create fanatical users. Dr. Parag shah have explained this topic much well.

After completion of session, we have wind up the session with thanks giving ceremony and by giving token of love and words of appreciation by our beloved Principal Mr. Jimmy James Mogaria.
