Introduction:
The 7th semester nursing students of T. & T.V. Institute of Nursing, Surat, organized and staged an impactful educational drama on the theme “Say No to Drugs” as part of their community health promotion activities. This initiative was designed to address the growing concern of substance abuse in society, particularly among youth, and to highlight the role of healthcare professionals in prevention and rehabilitation.
The program was attended by CHC Staff, faculty members, fellow students, invited guests, and members of the local community.
Objectives of the drama were:
•Awareness Creation: To inform the audience about the harmful physical, psychological, and social effects of drug addiction.
•Prevention Advocacy: To encourage individuals, especially young people, to resist peer pressure and avoid substance abuse.
•Promotion of Healthy Alternatives: To present positive coping strategies for stress, anxiety, and life challenges.
•Community Engagement: To inspire collective responsibility in addressing drug-related issues.
Programme Proceedings:
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to guest Ms. B.K.Dhrmistha Ma’am (Brahma kumaris Centre Incharge, Olpad), CHC Staffs, Dr. Ketan Patel – MD, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Vibhuti Chaudhary – Medical Officer, Dr. Shrenik Kothari , Surgeon, Dr. Ruta Chaudhry- Obstetrician, Dr. Megha Chaudhary -Obstetrician,Dr. Rajvi shah – anesthesiologist, Dr. Himanshu Patel – Dentist, Mr. Manoj Patel- Lab Technician, Mr. Sudhanshu sir- Pathologist, Dr. Bhumika Mehta – Physiotherapist, Ms. Devanshi Patel – Pharmacist, Nursing Staff – Ms. Hinal Patel , Ms. Divya Maisuriya , Ms. Urvashi Patel, faculty members, and students. Students Performed Drama. At the end of this program Ms. B.K Dharmishta ma’am administered the pledge on De-Addiction to all present at venue.
Learning Outcomes:
The programme successfully achieved its intended learning outcomes. Students were able to:
- Enhanced Knowledge on Substance Abuse, gained a deeper understanding of the causes,
types, and harmful effects of drug addiction on physical, mental, and social health. - Improved Communication and Counseling Skills, Through script preparation, drama they
developed the ability to convey sensitive health messages effectively and empathetically. - Teamwork and Collaboration, The drama required coordinated efforts in planning, rehearsals,
stage management, and performance, strengthening teamwork and leadership skills. - Application of Theoretical Knowledge to Practice, they applied concepts from community
health nursing, psychology, and sociology to create realistic scenarios and solutions for
addiction prevention and recovery.
Conclusion :
Sankalp : Nasha Mukt Bharat Program was successfully organized with enthusiastic participation
from students of 7th Semester B.Sc. Nursing. The event effectively bridged the gap between
classroom learning and practical application.
The valuable guidance provided by Dr. Shilpa Mehta Ma’am, Principal, Kiran Domadia Sir, Vice
Principal, Jimmy James Mogaria Sir. Under the Guidance of them, Ms. Jagruti Patel and Ms. Shivani
Patel successfully organize the program.
